I know this is totally unprecedented in the long and august history of ‘Commenter of the Week’, but this week there are two recipients of this prestigious award.
I’ve just had an email from The Brother (yes, the one with all the dietary advice and peculiar taste in interiors) asking for sponsorship for the Paris-Roubaix cycle ride – all 260km (162 miles) of it in one day, some of it over cobblestones.
I’ve done a bit of cycling in my time – have been on mountain biking holidays to Sri Lanka, Tuscany and Spain and have cycled from London to Bath over a period of three days – but the furthest I’ve ever cycled in one day has been 50 miles from London to Cambridge, so I’m absolutely beside myself with admiration. Just wanted to let you all know how proud I am of my little bro – and if you feel moved to sponsor him it’s all for a very worthy cause (Oxfam).
The Brother says
I know what everyone’s thinking…. yes I do know that my helmet doesn’t match the rest of my kit !!!!!

Hmmph! How come The Brother gets a flattering pic, be it really him or merely an appropriate illustration…..
Have sponsored, but am concerned with your ability to last the course with two meals of the day consisting of a bowl of muesli, M&S or otherwise (one of your less sensible dietary tips, if I may say so)
The best of luck
Camilla

You know your picture could have been a heck of a lot worse don’t you 🙂
The Brother says
Hi Camilla, Many thanks for the very generous donation, much appreciated. I’m afraid that really is a picture of me, but it doesn’t even start to convey the pain I was in.
To Paola, Go on then give it your best shot !!!!!
Paola says
I meant Camilla’s photo. It involves a Christmas decoration in the shape of a crown and drunken shenanigans in the American Bar at the Savoy.
