Just before spring.
It’s been a day of soft April showers here in Seattle and I thought I’d share pictures of another such day we spent a couple of weekends back in Portland’s Japanese Garden.
Of all the Japanese gardens here on the West Coast, Portland’s is by far my favourite. Not as flashy and gaudy as San Francisco’s, but bigger and more peaceful than Seattle’s, Spring had not yet fully sprung when we went, though everywhere soft young leaves were starting to peek through, as the hailstones fell and the sunshine glinted through the raindrops like so many crystals on a chandelier.
Some places are good for the soul.

I love how you captured the PacNW rain. And the way the weather can shift so suddenly. Beautiful

Awesome photographs! The Japanese rock garden is my favorite. A beautiful garden landscape is not about the quantity of visual elements present in the design — it is about how the said decorative elements are utilized to create a cohesive overall look.

Your photo with those captured raindrops is breathtaking! Your photography skills are excellent. 😉 It’d be worthwhile to be walking around that garden. And those purple trees are beautiful. They actually remind me of a Pink Blossom tree, which only grows in Japan though. =)

Those were some captivating pictures! I agree with Jeremy. A beautiful garden must have the right combination of designs to look appealing and attractive. And looking at this Japanese garden, everything is in the right area, even though it might not look organized at first glance. Looks can be deceiving, as they say.

I love the view of that garden! It looks so peaceful, especially the pictures of the plants and the raindrops. The raindrops on your picture looks like pearls, by the way. I can imagine myself running around and playing hide and seek along with my friends. 😛
