Watching the Opening Ceremony for the Vancouver Games, I was reminded again what an incredibly stunning corner of the world I’ve accidentally ended up in. Many of the themes of the ceremony – the Native American imagery, the salmon and whales, the juxtaposition of mountains and sea, would equally apply to Seattle, which is, after all, only 150 miles to the south.
We’ve been to Vancouver a few times since arriving here and love it to bits. Lots of pictures of Vancouver and Whistler here, here, here and here

It’s great that you have featured Vancouver! Even though we are Brits we found ourselves very excited (and proud) watching the opening ceremony on Friday and wanted everyone back home to be impressed that we live here. Unfortunately, nobody we know has been that interested…boo hoo to them! So thanks for that.

I, too, felt an unexpectedly strong tug of regional pride watching the Opening Ceremonies. The Pacific Northwest is so beautiful and so rarely featured. It was rather emotional seeing it powerfully depicted to the rest of the world.
