The Office Project

I’m horrified to admit that this is the current state of mirrormirror’s intergalactic headquarters.

I’m the first to admit that I’m not the world’s tidiest person, but even I can see that this is ridiculous and severely hampering my productivity.

I’m giving myself three weeks to sort this out and turn it into a haven of tranquillity and humming productivity and doing little blog updates along the way.  Does anyone care to join me?  Just think how much happier you’ll feel. Link to a ‘before’ post on your blog below, and let the tidying and filing begin!

If you need inspiration take a look at Nicole Making It Lovely’s office.  I’m just going to read that and weep.

If this gets a lot of interest, I’ll see if I can sort out a prize for the tidiest and most beautiful office.

I am right there with you sister! I’ve been trying to “get organized” since Jan. 1 and I’ve made some project but my office is the worst thing ever. Maybe that’s why I’m doing my work with my laptop on my lap in the living room and watching Oprah at the same time right now. I don’t even want to go in there.
Your office is lovely though – you’ve got the base! We have some guest posts later this week on Design Public that will give a bit of Home Office advice.

So, I dare you to do a post with a photo and link to it here. We’ve got three weeks…
(My office is actually a corner of our bedroom, so it’s a major eyesore and, I suspect, generates very bad feng shui or karma or something)

good luck, miss paola! you’ll feel so fab once you get it organized. quite honestly, it doesn’t look that bad. and do you really think nicole’s office looks like that 24/7? i bet if you rotate the camera 180 you’ll see all of her paper stacks and receipt piles. umm hmmm. 🙂

whoa. i’d like to join. the thing is… as soon as i make it tidy, get thing things in order, make it nice and neat… give me only ONE day and it will be a holy mess again. or should i really try?!

Lou. Just do it. Imagine how smug we’ll feel. And I’m intending to do 5 years worth of filing and throwing out and sorting, so it can’t go back to how it was in ONE day. Can it?
And for those of you who think it’s not that bad – there will be close ups in the days ahead…

How come Nicole’s working area doesn’t get the usual Paola raised eyebrow of being totally impractical/over styled? Does she lean her lap top against the tulips? There does at least appear to be space around your screen…
And surely an angled lamp is needed for working?
But that bin of yours sure needs emptying…

Lou, I’m waiting with bated breath 🙂
Camilla, I’m currently not in a position to raise an eyebrow at anyone’s workspace am I? Though you do actually make some excellent points. But I just love that it is SO uncluttered. I’m sure I would be a paragon of efficiency in such an environment instead of just p*ssing about on FB all day.

Yay for Lou! (OMG, that means I’m really going to have to start tidying). Progress report on Monday. Are any lovely readers brave enough to join us? Do you all have immaculate offices. Or are you just PUSSIES?

Oh wow, piles of clutter here and there. It must have taken you a couple of deep breaths before you were able to do the big sorting out here at your office. I wonder how your office looks now, a year after these pics. Although, I’d say you have a surprisingly cute workspace!
